lol Kva.. xx
I just think it would encourage banned users to re-join.
Ah, I see - yes, this was before my time. We have actually been looking at being able to change names recently but from a technical point of view it is very difficult to change usernames because of where and how they appear in our database (I'm not aware of the exact details of this - I leave it to the technical gnomes). I know this sounds odd because we have changed usernames in the past, but that wasn't an ideal solution and didn't change usernames everywhere (in links to people's profiles, for example) so if we did it, we wouldn't be doing it in the same way we did before. So at the moment this isn't something we can offer, even if people only want to change their names to lower case - apologies for this.

THECORBYLOON, an email address cannot be associated with more than one account, so if you deactivate and try to sign up with a new account with the same email address, it won't work. However, you can send me an email and ask me to edit the email address in your old account so that you can then reuse it when creating a new account.

If anyone is thinking about deactivating and creating a new account, please consider that we cannot transfer any profile details, questions, answers and so on from one account to another - you'll be completely starting from scratch. Also, if your new username is completely different to your old one, bear in mind that people might not recognise you so this could cause confusion.
BUT..you allow banned users in..time and time again ! check their sources !
Thanks for your reply

Will you at least allocate your teccy people a bit of time now and then to try and come up with a solution ?
I am always amazed when banned posters can be identified by others but I suppose it depends how much time and attention is spent on reading the posts from "new" members.

I would think that unless a new user is outed by others as being a banned user, it would be impossible for anyone at AB to know unless a very similar e-mail address were used.
banned users are often identified but allowed here 'till they are banned again..sigh...
TCL - They tend to revert back to their original writing style.
Great Grannie 39?
I know it's based on style but unless it's very individual, I'd not have a clue.
Surely you'd spot the ones in News?
Oh I almost forgot

Grannie39
Is it now 40? :-)
We will keep an open mind Baz, but I can't make any promises.

murraymints, if you have concerns about a particular member please email me.
Ed I have already as many others have done so in recent times...stone falls...
Just curious, why would you wish to change username ? . poor ed came in to reply to one question, now its turned into a full scale board meetings. :-) . like TCL I have neither the time or inclination to root out banned users, leave that to the AB staff .
UMMMM, I doubt I'd spot a banned user even in News.
sometimes it's reasonably east TCL
for example, if you decided to leave and come back, but then answered questions about benefits while using such terms as "outwith" (which ive only seen you and my old scottish boss) use, i might twig it was you
east? i mean easy!
Murray, there's nothing recent in my inbox from you, or "many others" for that matter, regarding concerns about banned members returning.
Or your old boss bednobs ? :-)
