How do I change my signing in name please, due to family happenings I need to do this.

Re-register under a new name and make your old one inactive.

The only way to do it would be to register with a new account, providing a different email address.

B00 is correct, unfortunately we are unable to change usernames so if you really want a different one you'll need to deactivate your existing account and create a new one.

While you're about ED you will recall that a while back we were promised a username amnesty
It would appear that only a few users were done and it was put on the back burner

Will this ever happen
I've asked this on several occasions but I have just been ignored

Yes, it was with the previous Ed - many got their requests fulfilled ( I got a capital 'M' for example) but not everyone got their favoured options due to various reasons.

ED - we were offered the opportunity to change our username if we wanted

Those who wished to submitted their new names and the process was put in place

However as I said only a few peoples wish was granted and I recall that we were advised that it would be looked at again

However nothing has been done since then

It was before you took up the post

However would you consider this request at the next board meeting ?

The fact is that the Ed at the time posted a list of posters who would have their request granted i.e. the names were approved ; however the change was not made

Also how about dragging the site kicking and screaming into the 21st century and having a private message facility? So often after initial advice is given people ask if there is a way they can contact members privately, I've seen this several times recently with delicate questions about child custody etc, and I think it would stop the ranting off that goes on. I know it's a Bank of answers therefore needs to be public, but it certainly wouldn't make it Social Media and I think generally that'd be more appealing to new members.
