Replying To Those Who Have Tried To Help.
33 Answers
Why do some ask questions, but do not have the courtesy to return to their question, so as to inform those who have taken the time to try and help them, if their suggestion solved their problem?

As I've written here several times before, AOG, the chances of getting a response to an answer seem to be inversely proportional to the amount of effort put into providing that answer.
For example there are loads of questions where I simply copy the title of the question (or words within it) into the Google search box at the top of my browser window. The first link there is sufficient to answer the question and I post an answer just showing the link to the relevant page. The whole thing takes less than 30 seconds to complete. Such an answer often seems to result in profuse thanks, often with quotes like "I've been googling that for hours" (which I can never understand).
On the other hand if I spend several hours researching an answer online (or, as I have done before, start making phone calls or driving across the county in my car to get the relevant information) I can almost guarantee that I'll get no feedback at all.
There's also one relatively new member that I'm becoming to regard as a troll because he posts lots of unusual questions, often resulting in loads of answers, but hardly ever seems to provide any feedback (or, indeed, his own opinions on his "What do you think about . . " questions).

^^^ Of course, Baz. (I don't like to be beaten when it comes to finding an answer to a question).
I've gone further than that though (literally). I once gave a guided tour of Paris to an American AB member who was struggling how to work out how to make the best of a day there. (He was visiting the UK but wanted to take a quick look at Paris via Eurostar).

Not the same those examples that you took the trouble to find are posts on the news section and one on Media & TV posted to instil debate and not ones asking for other ABers advice on various ways to fix certain problems that they are experiencing.
Without a response from the thread creator, those who have gone to the trouble to try and come up with a solution to their problem will never know if they have managed to help the OPer out, or anyone else who has the same problem for that matter.
Nice try but you must try harder with your constant digs at me.
