Why do some ask questions, but do not have the courtesy to return to their question, so as to inform those who have taken the time to try and help them, if their suggestion solved their problem?

It's not a matter of needing a thanks, it is the matter of knowing if one's suggestion or advice solved their problem and as already been said, it hopefully helps those who may also have the same problem.
