As I've written here several times before, AOG, the chances of getting a response to an answer seem to be inversely proportional to the amount of effort put into providing that answer.
For example there are loads of questions where I simply copy the title of the question (or words within it) into the Google search box at the top of my browser window. The first link there is sufficient to answer the question and I post an answer just showing the link to the relevant page. The whole thing takes less than 30 seconds to complete. Such an answer often seems to result in profuse thanks, often with quotes like "I've been googling that for hours" (which I can never understand).
On the other hand if I spend several hours researching an answer online (or, as I have done before, start making phone calls or driving across the county in my car to get the relevant information) I can almost guarantee that I'll get no feedback at all.
There's also one relatively new member that I'm becoming to regard as a troll because he posts lots of unusual questions, often resulting in loads of answers, but hardly ever seems to provide any feedback (or, indeed, his own opinions on his "What do you think about . . " questions).
