Ok Naomi has just pointed out that someone I thought was a mod is not one. Any chance we could have some sort of indicator that tells us who actually is a mod?

There's been a list of the known Mods in the first thread in this category since May last year and it's updated when appropriate.

The list of mods includes those ABers who have their regular AB username for posting as a regular ABer and their secrety mod name for posting as a mod.

So we don't really know who all the mods are.  I can understand why mods prefer that system.

I hold the mods to be modern saints. holier than me... certainly. we know this. They tell us so.
