You are correct. The chatter bank has over run this site.
All too often questions are ridiculed and inane chat ensues.
Here you witness another member of answerbank signing out for the last time. Good luck with cleaning this mess up.

Thanks Naomi.
The way in which I read it was as though Chatterbank is taking over the whole of Answerbank, consuming Answerbank.
society, i think that is the point they were making.
...oh well, another flounce in action.
I get 12th's point. It is annoying when a topic is posted for discussion and a CB user pops in a says 'hi, how's your cat today'

Paladin - don't forget to close the door as you flounce out of it
Grump :-(
I think Chatterbank should be reserved for just That. Chatter and "friendly" banter. I've seen many times some person's question hijacked by some ridiculous posts, asking about someone's dog etc. The poor questioner wants answers not innane comments.
Some ABers apologise for doing this but more aften than not couldn't care.
And how some make a career out of wanting a confrontation, they could start a fight in an empty house!
It is not wrong to ask after the well-being of someone or their dog/cat as long as it doesn't take over a full thread, when a 'spat' erupts, oddly enough , it attracts the most people, 12th I don't know who you are, but try and ride the storm, you will always get ones who will gun for you but for everyone of them, there are 10 helpful, nice people, I hope you change your mind.

If it interupts the flow of a thread outwith CB then it can be frustrating and is quite self absorbant in my opinion.
and I rest my case there ;-)

If someone is that interested in how someones 'cat, dog, Nan, child' is. They should do FAO in the appropriate category. Not in a question, posted in News asking about The Popes visit...
lol...
OK;-)

hi all, I've read the question about moving thinsg with your mind, it's not exactly a serious science question is it? It is not phrased as though the asker was intending it to be, It could easily have been a question in chatterbank as it seems random, light hearted and very very open to anyone of any intelligence. 12th paladin you can't pull the superior card on a question like that, if the OP had been about stephen hawkings theory on how we will one day need to leave the planet and find a new home, and if it had asked for peoples sensible and constructive ideas on how this would be achieveable given the available tecnology and scientific development to and, then yes, serious considered answers would be expected, but anyone referring to jedi knights in the question cannot be taken seriously! If I had responded to the thread, which I almost did, you would have made me feel belittled and undervalued with your thread today, and that is not in the spirit of AB. If you didn't have such a charming and sexy user name I would be annoyed at you petal. : )
Nice one Dotty x
