Sounds to me very much like John Michie, currently playing Karl Munro in Coronation Street. Though think of him as formerly in Taggart. Only my opinion I'm afraid.

Hi catnap, thanks so much for your response. I have now found out that it's someone called Alec Newman doing the voice-over. Apparently he plays the headmaster in Waterloo Road x
