why must they vex me with their bullsh-t myths? why must they run so often and so many? why don't they just "get lost"? anyone?

Because like every other company they need to promote their products so that they can sell them in mass quantities and therefore keep hundreds of people in jobs. And also so that the company maximises their profits and keeps money coming in from investors who see the company doing well.
2. Because this and every other western nation is obsessed with looking good and feeling good. Leaving your hair unwashed for a long time smells a little off putting. Trust me, I've tried to ignore the smell on my own hair in the past because I was too lazy.
3. There are so many adverts because the shampoo manufacturers are all competing against one another for your business.

aah keilo6, i see you've opted for the standard explanation rather than joining in the angst-ventage. funnily enough, i had a pretty solid understanding of the corporate reasons why people advertise, and i suspect the disguised question may have been; does anyone find them as crushingly frustrating as me|?
in retrospect, i suppose it may have been a little pointless putting a rhetorical question on answer bank.
