Should I report this to the RSPCA?

The people at the end of my garden have a fully grown Rottweiler which barks during the day and night.
They have a kind of paddock in their garden, no roof which adjoins my garden fence and at night they keep it in the shed, locked.

Two months ago I reported it to the Environmental Health who made a visit to my house and heard the dog barking and also witnessed it standing on its hind legs and barking and growling through the top of the trellis which is about 6ft high.

All they did was leave me a form to log down the times it barks and the usual, how do I feel and how does it affect me.
I know that this could take a year or so for the neighbours to be given a Noise Abatement Notice, so was wondering if the RSPCA could do something about it, as I think its cruel and if you have a pet dog, you shouldn't just leave it on its own all day and night.

Whats your opinions please?

blue bell......you have made one HUGE presumption.....in that the SELF diagnosed dyslexia actually exists.
A bit like people who PRESUME you are actually a qualified doctor? That kind of thing?
Sqad, I think you will find that Pixi is comenting on what she is reading on this thread, anything in the past is of a similar vein.
blue-bell.........exactly....."that sort of thing"
LOL!!
Sorry to get back on track but I feel for the OP but I don`t think the RSPCA will be much use. They are concerned with the dog`s welfare but the original problem is the noise. I had a woman with two little terrier type dogs that moved in next door. She made everyone`s life hell by letting her dogs bark in the garden in the early hours and 7am every morning. Every time she openend the patio doors they rushed out in a barking frenzy. I was quite shocked how many people told me to throw a poisoned sausage over the fence. Constant noise can really wear you down. You get a bit paranoid. I would have loved to have taken the damn things across the Thames and dumped them at the other side. I wouldn`t have though. The council were useless, they just mediated. Thankfully the bloody woman moved out taking her dogs with her to blight someone else`s life. Not before the stress was the last straw for my neighbour the other side who had all the battles with the woman. I came home and found her dead in the garden from a massive stroke.
Kindly take you spat onto your own thread so we can concentrate on the welfare of this dog !
Oh my goodness, that is awful! :-(
It does cause a huge amount of stress to the people that have to put up with it. My parents live in a top floor apartment and their downstairs neighbours have a little yakky dog that is constantly barking, whether his owners are home or not.
My Mum often says about leaving the gate open, so he will escape, but she wouldn't actually do that! They lose so much sleep at night, because of the damn thing. The owners sleep with ear plug in, so it doesn't bother them! It's so inconsiderate.
can't you just return to environmental health with your findings? that will allow them to put the wheels in motion.

i my experience the RSPCA won't do much if the dog is happy in himself, however unhappy the neighbours.
tambo...my concern is for the welfare of trt and the dog.

I actually said "I concluded from this that I am also certainly Dyslexic" this was based on a test that I took on the British Dyslexics Society's own website, and from talking to a professional in this field, not from some quack on an Internet site.
Most would be hard pressed to find an environment free of dogs barking. I have parks nearby with dogs continually barking but I accept it as part of the environment I choose to live in - I'd rather that, than city life any day.
trt, I am so sorry for hijacking your thread. I will leave this subject now.
sqad, my suggestion would resolve trt's problem. Who knows, the owners may offer trt the dog ?

As for male testerone - I dont know much about that :)
Pixi, no worries :-)
We might as well let people keep lions and tigers as pets too cos these beasts can do as much damage as they can (and quite often do) to a human

Always puzzles me why some folk think more of dumb animals than they do human beings

Usually people who don't have kids themselves I suspect

The ones who buy themselves a birthday card 'from the dog/cat'
