The dog next door.

I am an animal lover. but the dog next door is a bit of a nuisance. The problem is we have a cat and the dog spends a lot of time snuffling through the fence, presumably to try and sniff out if the cat is around. This is an annoying noise if you are trying to enjoy a sit in the garden. My question then, is there a smell that dogs don't care for that I could perhaps spray on the fence to deter him. Nothing harmful.

Unless you spray the whole length of the fence he will just move along and snuffle somewhere else. But to be honest - snuffling? Really? If it was barking and howling or digging holes to get through or even jumping the fence I could understand but you must have very sensitive hearing and a low tolerance threshold to be worried by snuffling. Why not try ear plugs?

Trouble is Lankeela, once you are aware of a noise it becomes an issue, even if it's a very soft noise. The best bet is to retrain yourself not to be listening for the noise all the time, and this came be done.

The dog snuffling is not a noise it's a sound.

I might just have the Roundup out and ready and accidently spray along the fence line when he peeps through. I would never do that to an animal, but it would give me great pleasure to do it to him .............................................

Be grateful you don't have a great big German Shepherd next door who barks at anything and everything all day long like I do. Thankfully I don't have access to a gun or I possibly would have shot it by now (i'm an animal lover, but enough is enough).

Why not just take a radio into the garden with you? Then you won't hear the dog.
I had two Pugs next door both intent on digging under the fence to get through to my side some years back until I told the owner that I owned a APBT and that they really don't want to be doing that. Never heard them trying again.

No she doesn't leave it alone all day, it does bark more when it is alone though. I confronted the owner about it and she claimed that her darling boy never barks and that nobody else had complained (we are her only neighbours). She is a thoroughly unpleasant woman!

She does sound unpleasant daffy, but you can take steps to stop a dog barking all day as there are laws against it. Your local council is the one to contact. There is no excuse for it barking all the time when she is at home, sounds like she might encourage it on purpose?
