Took my old boy for his tests this morning and found out that he has a massive growth in front of his heart which is inoperable.
It is this growth that is making him go off his food and not want to move very much.
My daughter down at Surrey Uni is heartbroken and wants to jump in her car and come home. I've said no to that.
Will know more when I pick him up shortly.
chrissa, just read through this, crying now. You will know when the time is right. Disagree with Andy on this one, you need to be with him.
Thinking of you, Wendyxx
You've not caused distress, a lot of happy memories have been rekindled. The final goodbye is awful, once you get throught that remember the good times. Usually prefer animals to humans myself, mice in my loft excluded!!
Enjoy the time you have left together, I'm sure you will give the old guy all the love and attention he deserves.xx
It may seem strange for me to be saying this to you at the moment Chrissa but when it was Jetspoon's (my avatar) time to go walkies in the clouds she was on the sofa with her head on my knee. All the family were with her too. The vet was so kind and she slowly went to sleep. Her ashes are buried under a rose tree in her own little garden.
Please forgive me for saying this but let him go sooner rather than later. Bless his little heart xxx
I really am so sorry its a horrible thing to have to go through. My old friend was 16 and the vet came to the house, and she went to sleep forever in her own bed.
cant watch the video as i know i will cry , i agree be with him and let him go to sleep in his own home in his bed ,then let his friend say goodbye once hes gone so he knows what has happened to him then he wont pine to much , our vets has always told us this even with the horses , hugs to you xx
Definitely be with him when it's time for him to go. I held and cuddled old Bramble -and will never regret it. It gave her comfort to be cuddled as she went to sleep. I cried like a baby-but I would have anyway. Take care x
