Alid, I endorse Stronghold as a flea preventer once you have your problem sorted out - I wouldn't use anything else now. frontline's not effective, and Advocate's not much better. Get Stronghold from your vet. You could also ask your vet if they know any pest control people, since this one seems ineffective (as well as costing you a bomb).

Thanks guys for all your advice and esp ratter15, I have started putting garlic in his evening meal as well.I have another 5 days before I can hoover (which is driving me mad), I am looking for another pest controller as well, vet can't give me anything else as last treatment for dog was only over a week ago, but bathed him yesterday and still found fleas in his bed this morning, washing machine hasn't stopped for over a month now, fingers crossed, any1 else with suggestions mcuh appreciated
Boxy, why do you say Advocate's not much better than FrontLine? Spill the beans please as I use it and have found it excellent. You've got me worried now.
Ratter we use rentokil house treatment spray and it works ok, not ahd a flea in a long time! I never did get the flea lamps but she was a cat lady so thats prob why she used them
ladybirder - personal experience, we found Advocate wasn't satisfactory (not necessarily for keeping fleas away but in the whole process of applying it)(mind you, we are talking cats here, not dogs) - the smell made their eyes water and it didn't settled properly on their skin, just dribbled off (and that was after I had a lesson from the vet nurse on how to apply it). I'm not commenting on its efficiency against fleas, but even though it was spotted on the back of the neck, the cats could lick the dribbles off and it made them foam at the mouth. We went back to neat'n'tidy Stronghold, which certainly keeps the fleas at bay in this house.
OK thanks boxy. You had me worried there. My cat is fine and honestly I don't have a problem putting it on, I usually do it in two places at the back of the neck. If she had had a bad reaction I would have stopped using it. She's happy, I'm happy, and we have no fleas so that'll do for me. For now anyway.
