LOL Lankeela.

Our cat must think her name is Oi Oi, which is what Mr LL shouts out every time she is naughty. Which is very often. Hyeractive Cat Syndrome!!

well i'd like to stick to thelist guys, im from the USA btw might be why some of these seem strange. but im red blooded american with a mechanic husband. yet i also apreciate literature "odessa" being the name of the town in friday night lights, an american novel and "devotchka" is from a clock work orange, a pretty classic novel all around. i love jeeps which is where those came from. i love anything spooky and i am picking the pup up from the breeders in beginning of october so that's where all the spooky halloween themes come from. some are car related because we are car people and some we just plan like the sound of and can picture calling a dog that. we like all of them for different reasons so just help me out here?
Since she is an Aussie, why not call her Barbie?
No harm meant to the pup, but why wouldn't you have just gone to your local rescue centre instead and saved one instead of encouraging these breeders? There are may thousands put to sleep each year because people choose vanity and elitism over true love for the animal.
Out of your list Matilda or Tilly..............
Useless would be the name of choice for my dog......
Ember
Because eye some of us prefer to know exactly what we are taking on terms of size and temperament. Not everyone is suited to a rescue dog, many come with problems or 'baggage'. I have one in at present, very sweet old boy of about ten, loves everyone fine till you pick him up then he is a snarling whirling dervish, needs someone who is able to gauge when he is going to flip, still trying to get to the bottom of why he does it. There will be the right home out there, but it may take months to find. No point letting him go somewhere where he (and the owners) will not be happy.

I like...Sadie, Ember, Rogue.
Speaking from experience? Would you like the past fifteen years records of my breed rescue that are in my filing cabinet?
Or maybe you would like to contribute to my diesel expenses for taking a dog to its new home in Scotland this weekend?

This sums up perfectly the dangers of getting a dog from a breeder.

Now bracing myself for the typical apologists: "Ooohhh, a respectable breeder would never do that!" etc etc etc.

That's all very well when you don't really do your homework and just lash out your small fortune to them because you need your vanity assuaged by having to have a pedigree mutt. But do you actually go to the time and trouble of actually finding out where your pup will be coming from?

No, get your mutt from an animal shelter where they have its best interests at heart - instead of their own.

is he really lashing out? i mean you're the one that started telling me im less of a person for getting a pup instead of adopting. this post is suppose to be harmless fun until you came in here with your agenda. not that i dont think rescue is important but i want an australian cattle dog because i grew up with them, im in love with the breed, but as an experienced owner i know that cattle dogs are a strong headed breed that can have alot of problems so the best thing to do is get an 8 week old pup and start trainer her to be a good girl, get her fixed, and stop adding to the problem, the pup is already born wether i buy her or not, better i buy the pup spay her and raise her in an experienced home than someone else buy her not know what they are getting into and end up throwing her in a shelter at a young age.
I like Lyla or Ember.

I will ignore the childish comments made by Eyethankyew, who obviously hasnt visited a 'respectable breeder' and is not talking from experience.

that is a huge and misinformed generaliation! so according to you no one should ever breed dogs...ever...then there would be no more dogs. that makes sense. you know how many breeds have almost gone exsinct but were saved by selfless breeders wtk ney from their own pockets to save the breed because of the love they have for that breed? the american bulldog, the weimeriener, the english bulldog, the airedale terrier, just to name a few. if i were you i'd be embarassed for taking a fun conversation and turning it into this pointless arguement that you obviously are too bias and pig headed to take part in. i see the importance of adoption, my parents have a rescue dog and my uncle is a foster, my other uncle spends more time and energy at the local humane society than he does at home! i know the need but i want a specific breed, and its a difficult breed that i know how to handle. im not walking into some money hungry puppy mill, im buying a good pup from a nice family of responsible and respectable breeds. please leave this conversation now before i report you so the rest of us can get on having fun instead of being made to feel horrible for wanting a puppy to raise with our children.
Well said zoofor2.

For the record I was on a breeders waiting list for nearly 12 months for a puppy, who spent a great deal of money on health testing before the mating took place. She had more people on her waiting list than she would have had puppies, and she was keeping one herself to improve her own line (that is usually the reason breeders have litters in the first place!). I have NEVER known anyone in my own breed put a puppy to sleep because they couldnt sell it.

Before you come on here with your know it all arrogant attitude, do some homework first.
