He has recently been to the vets for an operation on a damaged tendon on his left front leg. I keep hearing the poor mite squealing as it is painful for him to cock his leg and do his business. How long should it take to heal as my elderly neighbour gets quite distressed by his cries.

Well obviously as he cocks his back leg, the weight is distributed and therefore puts pressure on his sore leg. Tell her to call the vet for advice.

I'd suggest the neighbour takes him back to the vet for a checkup (btw do dogs always only cock the same leg? - not joking, couldn't he use the other one?)

Don't know any dogs that cock their front leg.
that's true wildwood, I didn't spot that :-)

quite right mamyalynne, but I was just having a rib at boxy. Never mind. Often it is hard to add an emotion to an answer. All intended in fun.
I knew that :-)
