Try one of the comparison sites, craft. Or you could try ringing your insurer and saying it's too expensive and you're going to look around. They usually drop the price a bit then. It's worth a try.
I have used petplan .. & soo glad I did with my German shepherd ..with hip dysplasia (she was only 9months old & will need treating for life!) read the small print though ..

The best thing is to just put some money away each month for emergency if you know you could find a lump sum from somewhere if you needed to. If I had insured all my dogs over the years I would be bankrupt by now. Very few vet bills have been more than the excess I would have had to pay.
My vets does their own insurance. £11 per month & we only have to stand the first £60 of any treatment. Plus, there's no paying up front & trying to claim it back. Might be worth asking around to see if any in your area do the same.
