Pet insurance

Any recommendations..................I've just got my renewal through for the dog, and he's costing more than fully comp on the car!!

I used Petplan for my two cats.
It wasn't that expensive and they really came through when I needed it.

Try one of the comparison sites, craft. Or you could try ringing your insurer and saying it's too expensive and you're going to look around. They usually drop the price a bit then. It's worth a try.

I use petplan too. The cover is excellent and they cover for life.

me too carfty- it costs me £98 per MONTH to insure our pets. I'm starting to think i'll chose the one i like the least and stop insuring them

My last vet bill (Petplan paid it) was for £1850.00.
I think it's worth it.

Under £20 a month doesn't seem unreasonable considering we pay £13 a month through PetPlan for the cat.

Owning a car that is more or less the same size as your dog... and your 90 years NCB probably has something to do with it ;-p

I have used petplan .. & soo glad I did with my German shepherd ..with hip dysplasia (she was only 9months old & will need treating for life!) read the small print though ..

craft... according to Tesco, the average cost of a dog's injuries after being involved in a road accident is just under £700... so your £5 a week premium suddenly seems great value.

My dog never goes on the road..................well only in the Smartcar where he has his own seat and harness.

The best thing is to just put some money away each month for emergency if you know you could find a lump sum from somewhere if you needed to. If I had insured all my dogs over the years I would be bankrupt by now. Very few vet bills have been more than the excess I would have had to pay.

My vets does their own insurance. £11 per month & we only have to stand the first £60 of any treatment. Plus, there's no paying up front & trying to claim it back. Might be worth asking around to see if any in your area do the same.

Through Petplan my 3 cats were going to cost me £45 through Tesco I am getting it for £15.
