My Lab Toby, now 7 years old, went through a period of doing this. It was a phase and didn't last long. Stop him when you see him doing it with a stern "No".
sounds like the pup is bored and teething - how old is he?
We used a plant spray jet to stop ours chewing things in the house, worked for the cat as well.
Give him other things to chew on. The lab cross I had years ago loved carrots.
There is a product called Chew Stop which you can put on things, However, you might be better to say'No' and give him something else to chew. He is probably teething. Frozen carrots are good and rawhide sticks.. He needs to chew. Just make sure he's chewing the right things. Praise him when he's chewing what you have given him.
My cat just laughs at the plant sprayer...he thinks it's a game.

He is now 5 months old I have told him off but he goes back when Im not watching him
You have to keep watching!
He will learn eventually. Just keep saying 'No'.
Keep him on a long lead in the house. Don't let him go off and do his own thing.
Your "No" has to be really stern and quite fierce.
then watch him!!! If you can't keep him under your eye you shouldn't have a puppy.
waterbabe, make sure he has enough interaction with you and your family to stimulate him and enough physical exercise proportionate to his age and breeding to satisfy him - plus time for undisturbed sleep - he is teething and his gums will be sore - give him appropriate things to chew on - maybe a frozen Kong filled with low energy but tasty treats or frozen carrots. He's a pup, he's not chewing the skirting board to annoy you - he's just saying 'teeth are sore and I'm a bit bored'.
Bitter apple spray (which may be what tilly's chew stop is) 98% of dogs hate it - bad luck if you have a dog who loves it. You spray it on anything that the pup is going for to chew......
Have you recently wallpapered where he is chewing?
Some dogs can't resist fresh wallpaper paste.
Confine him somewhere like a puppy pen or behind a stair gate in the kitchen, or in a crate while you can't watch him. Give him lots of things to chew on, and you can freeze a flannel and give it to him to chew on to soothe his sore gums. Plastic milk bottles and cardboard kitchen roll middles are good and cheap. Make sure he has plenty of short exercise/play sessions so he is more likely to sleep in between times.
Puppies chew, that's what they do, especially when they are teething. Using a spray on him won't help him, you need to get to the root of the problem by interacting with him or giving him something else to do. He needs to be stimulated, to have plenty of exercise, not to be left too long on his own. Just telling him to stop is no good, you need to give him something else to bite on. rsvp has given you some excellent advice, a Kong, used as she has advised, should help soothe his sore gums. Good luck.
Would add that puppies NEED to chew to loosen their baby teeth so the adult ones can come through.
