Have any of the cat slaves among you tried walking your cat on a lead ? I haven't till now but the idea of training my new baby to accept a harness while traveling in the car or possibly walk happily in safe areas .... He hates being caged in the car and also being left behind and this might be the answer. Any thoughts on this ?
Yes I had an Egyptian Mau called Karmen who wore a harness in the car rather than be caged she hated cages with a passion and had been known to knock her teeth out!
Anyway we would let her stretch her legs on the long trips up to Scotland, she loved it and was more than happy with it.
Hi, yes I've done that with ours years ago when we had a common or garden tabby, he loved walking on a lead as he loved being with us. Hope you manage it with your baby he might enjoy it too.
One of my boys was tried with a harness to prevent him beating up his house-mate. He hated it and refused to walk with it on - would lie down on his tum. It was OK for stopping fights occurring but I couldn't have walked him. I suppose its an issue of temperament.
I would start now seeker, put it on an hour a day to see if he tolerates it, though maybe first time could be half hour then remove it an again another half hour later in the day. Best of luck.
i have a house cat as i live on a busy road and am next to a railway line...i put my cat in a harness to take her out in the garden for walk abou so she gets some fresh air....quite often she will sit by the back door meowing and pull her harness off the hook by the back door as if to say' i want to go out'
