De-Shedding Tools

I have a large pointer/beagle cross dog...he has short hair but he is shedding like no other dog i've ever had! Do these de-shedding tools work...does anyone have any feedback please? Been looking at the Furminator specifically. Thanks

She was getting fistfuls of hair out and chucking it in the borders, for the birds to use for their nests, so she said. Of course I didn't know what she was using until I asked her but it was after that I bought one and have been very pleased with it and she was very pleased with hers:-)
Furminators work on the basis of removing loose dead hair so are not good for dogs that don't shed naturally like poodles (and a lot of the designer 'oodle' crosses). Although I use one on my GSD when he is moulting I use an ordinary rake for the rest of the time. For my short haired breed I rarely have to do anything to them at all, they moult twice a year and most of it comes off by just running your hand over them As someone said above try a hound glove, you can get either a rubber one for normal times or one with metal 'teeth' on one side for when they are shedding.
