Hi

Have Jack Russell x Whippet approx 3yo who constantly moults, in matter how many times we groom him!

A 10 minute trip in the car results in a three-hour hoovering, and he can't get near a sofa without furring it up!

Is there anything we can do to stop the moulting?

Alternatively, is there anything we can do to stop the inside of the car need hoovering every time we take him out?

Thanks in advance

my dog moults excessively when he is stressed ?
Hi RS, Is it just this time of year that he moults? My labs shedding hair like a trooper at the minute ready for his summer coat, but is normally fine.
I have a big picnic blanket covering the back of the car where the dog gets strapped in - It doesn't have to be expensive, just something you can take out and shake and stick in the washing machine when required :-)
Here's quite a helpful link:

I've had a look around T'internet and most vets 'blogs' say the same - turn down any central heating, keep brushing, de-flea when neede and change his diet to have less/ or none of any food which contains artificial additives - try using a brand which has no colours or additives such as 'Taste of the Wild' or similar - check the ingredients list, or go for a food which is slightly higher in fish oils as this also is supposed to help.

You could also try changing your carpets to match the dog ;o)
All the best
