Not that anyone can do, or say anything, but I am sad this evening because my little cat, Minette, is hospitalised at Filey vets. Can't fault their service.(She had to chose Bank Holiday, didn't she? She's a cat.)

Minnie is 16 yrs. old and I found her when I moved to France, first arrival, she was sitting on a straw bale in my barn and scooted off. This was Feb. 2002. I had brought cooked mince to reheat for a meal and I put a bit on a saucer on the windowcill, it disappeared and next night she was inside - the mice, which had been triumphant, vanished. Since then we have been very close - when she began labour with her kittens she climbed up on the sofa next to me and laid her head on my lap throughout as I helped her to deliver. She talks to me a lot.

Anyway, this afternoon she was violently sick by OH's feet. Naturally he grumbled and we went into the cleaning-up process, then I noticed that Minnie was walking very badly and not in control of her back-end.. She couldn't get comfortable and was crying - so that was when I rang the emergency vet. After tests, all her bloods are normal (in fact, very good for her age) and she is now snoozing away under the feline equivalent of morphine and anti-inflammatories. Could be a blood-clot, or could be a twisted muscle (nerve) with the vomiting. Younger daughter's cat, Emma, died of a hip blood-clot aged 8.

I suppose I just want to tell people about it, I love my little girl. :)

Smoke the Mog sends his love and hopes she's feeling better. Apparently a bowl of salmon helps.
Jourdain so relieved to read your update, happy news. She will love being home again too.

Much to our relief, Minnie is home again and sitting OH's lap - but she is finding it hard to get comfortable. Purring fit to burst in the intervals.

I saw the X-rays and her left knee is particularly bad and it is that one on which she is now limping still. We have medication for a fortnight and instructions to go back in 10 days (and an over-£300 bill - say it quickly and forget about it is the best approach, I find - bye-bye holiday :0) don't care, she comes first by a long way :o) )

We have to get a largish pill down her throat twice daily (not easy) and a squirt of something else (quite easy) down her throat once a day. House organisation - daughter has suggested fitting a baby-gate on the stairs so that Minnie's food can be left the other side and dog can't raid it. It would stop the need for her to to jump down from the worktop.

Of course, younger daughter has just rung asking if I want to share in a cheap Venice holiday! Grrrrrr!
I am so glad Minnie is back home with you, long may she purr.
I don't know if you are aware that cats purr when in pain, as well as when they are happy.
Great news.

Ye, I am aware of that, Hopkirk. No she's snoozing happily, I'm the 'wrung out' one. Yet again, thank you all so much. I'll let you know if things change.
I can scarcely believe the amount of support I have been given - thank you all, so much.
