Aged Cat In Hospital
Not that anyone can do, or say anything, but I am sad this evening because my little cat, Minette, is hospitalised at Filey vets. Can't fault their service.(She had to chose Bank Holiday, didn't she? She's a cat.)
Minnie is 16 yrs. old and I found her when I moved to France, first arrival, she was sitting on a straw bale in my barn and scooted off. This was Feb. 2002. I had brought cooked mince to reheat for a meal and I put a bit on a saucer on the windowcill, it disappeared and next night she was inside - the mice, which had been triumphant, vanished. Since then we have been very close - when she began labour with her kittens she climbed up on the sofa next to me and laid her head on my lap throughout as I helped her to deliver. She talks to me a lot.
Anyway, this afternoon she was violently sick by OH's feet. Naturally he grumbled and we went into the cleaning-up process, then I noticed that Minnie was walking very badly and not in control of her back-end.. She couldn't get comfortable and was crying - so that was when I rang the emergency vet. After tests, all her bloods are normal (in fact, very good for her age) and she is now snoozing away under the feline equivalent of morphine and anti-inflammatories. Could be a blood-clot, or could be a twisted muscle (nerve) with the vomiting. Younger daughter's cat, Emma, died of a hip blood-clot aged 8.
I suppose I just want to tell people about it, I love my little girl. :)

Good morning all. Just had phone call from vet. Minnie is still limping badly, but has started eating and painkillers are keeping her comfortable. They want to keep her in overnight again and reassess in the morning - they don't want to have to sedate her to do an X-ray unless forced.
Her blood tests showed kidneys are OK, Hopkirk. Thank you and Marval for your kindness, like everyone else. :)
