my bulldog had entropion surgery 2 weeks ago at a vets.i noticed that my dog had what looked like a hole in the middle of his eye so took him back to the same vets and they referred my dog to a eye specialist. So when we took him there they said he had a ulcer on the eye,and the surgery by the other vet had left his eyelids pointed upwards so had to do another entropion surgery. My poor dog is traumatised over this. And we paid £600 for the first treatment and have had to pay another £800 for the second to put it right.Question being would we be right to ask the first vet for a refund as we have had to pay twice, the second time to correct the surgery that the first vet had done ?

I think it depends whether the poor dog’s problems was caused by the first vet’s poor practice or was one of those things which can happen. One of my dogs had cataract surgery and post op the stitches in the eyeball of one eye burst twice :(
There was nothing the operating vet could have done and they were as worried and distressed as we were.
Can I suggest that you get an opinion on whether your dog’s problems were caused by the vet’s poor practice or were one of the risks of the op?
No I don't thing you can - all surgeries come with a risk and you would have signed a permission letter.
The ulcer could have occurred after the first operation, also Bulldogs have loads of issues with their eyes.
Don't you have insurance?
