Why does my dog suckle on a ball at one year of age?

Who knows, but don't worry - it's harmless as long as the ball is toxin-free. My elder Weimaraner has suckled on cushions and blankets all his life and he still does it now at 6 years old. We've wondered if he should've spent longer than 8 weeks with his mum, but he seems happy enough. He certainly couldn't ask for more love than we give him.
