Help ...... lost cat
10 Answers
I'm looking after a cat for some friends and he has run away.
The cat know me but not very well. He is an indoor cat and hasn't been allowed out since he was shot by some kids with an air rifle. He was with me a matter of hours, used the toilet, but was still too scared to eat.
I woke up yesterday morning to find the door open(!) and the cat gone. He was still hanging around outside my house yesterday teatime, but ran away whenever someone got close to him. I haven't seen him at all today.
I've called him, left food out for him and told the neighbours to look out for him.
Is there anything else I can do?

My cat dissapeared once but 3 days later came back at 2'o clock in the morning wondering where the welcome home party was.
Rattle his food biscuits, works well with my cat. Also, drag a toy or something around on a bit of string, if he's hiding in a bush or something in a garden, he might chase it and come out.
Ask locals to check their garages and sheds to make sure he hasn't been shut in.
Good luck, try not to worry, and I hope you find him safe and well soon. Remember, cats are very independant and like to make their own rules.

Have you tried going to your friends' house? If it is close by, he may have tried to get home. You could try looking under cars, in barns or log sheds (anywhere where it is sheltered and warm). I know he is an indoor cat, but please try not to worry, cats are remarkably self sufficient. He will find himself food, warmth and shelter. He will more than likely try to get home, since he will not identify your house as his territory so will not know where to come back to. Other than putting up posters (which I imagine would be difficult since I don't suppose that you have any pictures) and (unfortunately for you) having to contact his owners I don't know what else you can do. You could try notifying the local cat santuaries/RSPCA just in case someone hands him in as a stray. I really feel for you, and I do hope he turns up. B
