My 11 month old cat Frankie is a real sweetie, but he brings me presents, I can deal with the pegs and twigs and even the worms i thought the roast chicken leg every sunday was quite funny but more recently he's started stealing from people's houses, it started with a child's dummy, then a piece of buttered toast, a reel of cotton, a sock, another cats toy, and on mother's day he brought me a brand new toy dog (it still has the tags attatched)
I know these 'gifts' are his way of providing for his family and I'm quite grateful we're not in the country anymore coz we often got presented with live things, which we had to catch, or worse half a dead something. :-(
What do I do? I think I need to find a way of stopping this now before he starts bringing me expensive things!! Any suggestions?
I dont have any suggestions, but this reminded me of a dog I had once. It was a lovely summers Sunday lunch time and I was in the kitchen, the back door was open, next thing my dog was dragging this large leg of lamb (beautifully cooked and still hot) down the garden path. I never found out who it belonged to. Actually I never dared ask.
Just be grateful they are not live or half dead any more. We dont even live in the country and get an all manner of things My daughter is accustomed to being turfed out of bed at silly oclock while mummy catches the mouse under it. He sounds real cute!!!
Not a cat and I would have no idea how to stop him ... but many years ago we had a spaniel ..the biggest thief on four legs .Any shoes or slippers left laying around were swiftly nicked and buried in the garden. She even had my Dads' false gnashers away. She chewed up and ate a pound note which I had given my Mum for my housekeeping .Lot of money then ! Mother had it in her apron pocket and pulled it out inadvertently and she was on it like lightning .My Dad and brother used to go sea fishing on the pier and I used to go down there with a flask and so on for them at night . She was very adept at getting into the fishermans baskets and pinching the odd fish . Nothing was safe .She was a nightmare but a lovely dog !
Is your cat called Fagin ? :))
Great idea wolf63 - I know someone who threatened to have a garage sale with the stuff their cat brought in but then the neighbours might recognise their socks, knickers etc! Mine just bring in live mice and I too spend happy hours trying to evict the ungrateful little devils.
yeah he's got a little mate, elvis (4) they fight and chase each other around constantly!! It's nice to know that I'm not on my own with all this, and other people have been thru the same thing, I'm just worried that if someone catches him in the act they might not see the funny side!
Get him on the first bus into town! Sit back and wait. You will have a whole new wardrobe.
My old next door neighbour had 2 siamese cats and i regulary used to loose rings, makeup, candles and even pens to them! I used to find all my stuff in her garden!! LOL Jake the oldest then took to coming in to my room and doing it in front of me!! Cheeky monkey! I agree with the others, he is just bringning you a gift in his eyes! He sounds great! and a bag full of fun! if he gets any designer bags come back onto the post ill buy em!!! LOL xx
