Dogs sore ear
5 Answers
I seem to remember a post a while back about using Earex for dogs with poorly ears ?
Poor old Shaney has a sore ear and in spite of me taking him to the vets (twice) and them giving me an ear wash stuff (Sancerum) it won't clear up . It's just a waxy ear according to the vet. But the Sancerum doesn't seem to be doing the trick. He is nightmare for putting this stuff in his ear .It has helped a bit and loads of gunge has come out but it's still no good .Most of the wash goes over the floor whilst I try and pin him down to put it in ..and at thirty quid a throw at the vets it's a dear ear wash !.I just wondered if the Earex might be a better option. Any advice gratefully received .Thank you.

I used it for a BSD who had terrible problems with her ears (they totally swelled inside and closed up) I used all sorts of things from the vet, including antibiotics that nearly killed her! Finally the vet wanted to operate and sew up the ears and open a hole in the bottom of the ear to drain it. I was not happy with that and a man (who's family bred dogs for years and ran a kennels) told me about Earex. I tried it and within a couple of weeks the swelling had eased and it certainly improved the condition.
It is in a small bottle with a dropper and is quite thick (so you don't have to flood the ear which dogs hate so much). It helps to warm the bottle to body temperature before you drop it in the ear. I used to give Lucy an ear massage before and after which she used to love!
It cannot do any harm and is cheap so is definately worth a try!

Hi kita ....Just to let you know I had no problems putting the Earex in ...no silly behaviour or hiding in corners ! .He was very amenable ! As if to say "what a relief".
Also I have noticed since putting it in his ear earlier this evening he has been really quiet....no ear flapping, head shaking, whinging or rubbing his ear along the floor .I shall do an earhole inspection first thing tomorrow and hope it is bit better ....I am very optimistic ...thanks very much xx

Thanks lankeela....I have made a note of that . .. His ear already looks much better this morning ..not so red as it was. Plenty of gunge but I expect the Earex has loosened the wax.
Funnily enough we had a spaniel many years who used to get ear trouble and I remember my Dad used to put a powder in her ears ...probably the same thing.
