kitten climbing/scratccing

I have just got a 3 month old kitten and she climbs up everything, the curtains, the sofa etc.. she also scratches everywhere including the carpet. She has a scratcing post but won't use it, I have tried rubbing catnip leaves on it but to no avail.

When you catch her scratching where she shouldnt then pick her up and put her next to her scratch post, she should then hopefully get the idea but it does take time.

Supposed to give them a quick spray with water...without them seeing you do it..when they are having a go at your stuff...but have you tried to do that without being seen?Amazing how THEY manage to do all sorts of naughty stuff on the quiet tho'. lol. You should see my suite OMG!!! All part of the fun of living with the little "bears".

try Feliway from the vets, its a spray that makes things smell catty to your kitten (but not us). Cats are territorial and like to mark things, they don't like anything new. Thats why they rub up against things also, they are putting their smells about.
