Does anyone have a cat who likes to chew through wires (even when they're plugged in)? I have a cat who does this! Doesn't seem to have suffered any electrical shocks (surprisingly) but can seek out wires even if they've been hidden up (for instance I was charging my phone the other day and hid everything under a cushion - nothing to be seen - went upstairs for 10 mins and when I came back the wire was chewed in half, although still under the cushion!!). Any ideas how to stop this (apart from pinning wires to walls etc, which I've also done)? He's 10 years old and has done this from the start. Seemed to stop for quite a while but looks like he's taken it up again !!
One of my cats lies on the extension socket - and nothing will move her from her spot.
Try painting something nasty on one of the wires and let her loose. All he needs is to get a bad taste in his mouth and, maybe, he will be dissuaded from this hobby in future. Stop and grow (for nail biting) is pretty awful stuff.
hi there, try spraying the wires with spray called FELI SPRAY .I got it from u.s.a.or may be wiping the wires with vinegar hopefully will keep the cat away.
oh lord a fellow cat owner with a wire chewer. Poppy is not a year old yet and at first we could not work out why things were not working until we found chewed wires in very hidden places. Phone chargers...... yes had 2 new ones of them (I recommend ebay)..... Last week it was the xmas lights that go outside. My hubby managed to fix those but now instead of them having a ripple flash to them they sort of stutter a bit (he denies he may have not lined the wires back up correctly)!!
Does your cat drink from the dog dowl and have a complete fascination with watching the tap or water in general?
I'm so glad its not just me (or my cat should I say)!! We had to buy battery operated Xmas tree lights this time round (he runined the last set) too!! Yes, he likes to sit and watch a tap drip for hours on end too. Have tried vinegar in the past (and on our Xmas tree!) but he just sniffs it and keeps on going!! Mind you, he also likes eating curries and pickled onion crips so what can I say ... !!
What a relief - thought I was the only one! Since we got him as a kitten our Emlin has written off a set of stereo speakers and three cordless phones (he's partial to the aerials!) not to mention shredding my velvet curtains - love him!
