How can I stop my cat clawing when we play. Will he calm down
my seven month old kitten was neutered last month and I had hoped it would quieten him a little as he is quite mad. He is full of energy and always running round the house playing with toys. His brother is much quieter and plays gently and when I stroke and cuddle just seems more relaxed where as the mad one lashes out and scratches if you stroke him. I am covered in marks on my hands arms legs and even my neck. I love them both dearly but the mad one can be quite a handful. Any suggestions would be welcome

When he goes to lash out tell him in a firm voice no claws ,having 5 cats it worked with each of mine so they know i'm queen cat. Try giving him a treat if he behaves as just like children they understand right from wrong and get the idea they will be rewarded for good behaviour. Hope it works for you.
One of mine (a boy) plays games at 100 miles an hour - dashing around, claws out, trying to win the game. It's sometimes like he doesn't realise you're only playing. His Sister is very gentle, and enjoys teasing you by pretending she's not interested, then when she realises you're caught off guard, you get a gentle bite or scratch. She definitely realises you're only playing - this is the first female cat I've ever had, so I was wondering if it's a boy/girl thing ?
