Don't take offence at this, but do you know about keeping tropical fish in general?

i thought i knew what i needed. i have the heater on the filter is fine and the fish are fine i have other tetra in the same tank and they all seem fine. it is just the neon tetra i have problems with when i brought them the lady told me they had been having problems with the other tank of tetra and blamed it on the transportation. could it be this or is it that my tank just isnt right for them?
Neons are pretty hardy usually. I presume you weren't putting them into a new tank?
I also assume you're tank is not overcrowded?
If neither is true, then you have probably been unlucky and bought a bad batch. I bought 10 aaages ago, 1 or 2 died in the first week but the rest are still going strong.
Or perhaps youve accidentally been given cardinal tetras which prefer more acidic water and your water is more alkali.
Take a sample of your tank water into your fish shop, they should be able to check its ok for you.

i have had the water checked today at the fish centre and it was o.k. think it must of just just been a bad batch of fish i defiantly will not be buying from there again. Thank you very much for your help
Yeah maybe just a bad batch.

I remember once when my Dad purchased an Oscar, stuck it in the tank and over the course of the next few days proceeded to eat all the neon terras. My Dad didn't know that Oscars would eat the other fish... oops.
