Neon Tetra
I ppurchased 6 neon tetra last week they have been fine up untill last night they have now turned pale not very brightly coloured anymore and one was having difficulty swimming by this morning i had lost him he was laying lifeless on the gravel at teh bottom on the tank but looked as though he was bleeding inside, at the front of him he had gone very red looked liked blood but not pirced the skin. has anyone else had this problem is there anything i can do to save the others or bring there bright colours back?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.i thought i knew what i needed. i have the heater on the filter is fine and the fish are fine i have other tetra in the same tank and they all seem fine. it is just the neon tetra i have problems with when i brought them the lady told me they had been having problems with the other tank of tetra and blamed it on the transportation. could it be this or is it that my tank just isnt right for them?
Neons are pretty hardy usually. I presume you weren't putting them into a new tank?
I also assume you're tank is not overcrowded?
If neither is true, then you have probably been unlucky and bought a bad batch. I bought 10 aaages ago, 1 or 2 died in the first week but the rest are still going strong.
Or perhaps youve accidentally been given cardinal tetras which prefer more acidic water and your water is more alkali.
Take a sample of your tank water into your fish shop, they should be able to check its ok for you.
