Dogs and foxes

My 2 Jack russels killed a fox in the garden yesterday. I got rid of the fox and de-fleaed the dogs. Was wondering if i should take the dogs to the vet ? Incase they have caught something... Also does this mean that my usually friendly dogs are now going to be hard to control..

I detest people who call foxes vermin, they are NOT classed as vermin, I've had a lot to do with foxes in the past and I can assure you they are lovely creatures, there are a lot of humans I would call vermin but never foxes, they're just wild animals trying to survive !!

( the fox is not and never has been classed as vermin. southend on sea borough council ) why not try and google again

Foxes are not cuddly gorgeous creatures, they are a damn menace. A few months ago they cleared out my hens...very sociable.
JRT's are bred for killing vermin and like most dogs will do so if they get the opportunity. My old sheepdog loved to kill rats and the odd chicken if he got a chance, he never turned on a human though, not his nature.
Just be careful about what has access to your garden but if a cat gets in, it really isn't your problem.
Dog bite incidents with children are usually the fault of the parents. My son has been bought up with dogs and is not afraid of any of the 4 we currently have, however he has been told never to go near a strange dog, it's common sense. If his freinds or anyone new comes to the house, I put the dogs away, again common sense.
Stop blaming the dogs.

Do know what Gelda you live on another planet if you think foxes are lovely cuddly creatures - wrong, they are riddled with mange, fleas, worms and whatever else they may carry. They kill just for the sake of it, fair enough if they killed to eat to survive but they don't they do it just for the fun of it.. Help me here where does cuddly come into it!!!!!!! they are a bloody nuisance.

Bicklemoune, you obviously know nothing about foxes, where was it that I said they were cuddley creatures, I didn't say anything of the sort, I said they were just wild animals trying to survive, they also do not kill for fun if they get into a chicken run they kill as many as they can because they cache ( bury and store) their food they can only carry one chicken at a time! I think before you start slagging off wildlife you should look at a couple of sites that tell you all about them www.wildlifeonline.co.uk is one of them. BTW DEFRA says they are not classed as vermine!

Another thing, do you think they enjoy being riddled with mange etc. they die a very painful death through these diseases and I wouldn't want any creature to go through that, they have feelings after all!

Gelda they do kill and leave, a fox killed 6 of my ducks and just left them. A fox killed my chickens and one of my geese and also left them. So they do not kill to store - get your facts right.

Bicklemoune. They probably did come back but by then they would have been removed, they don't always come back straight away they sometimes leave it a couple of days, and as for getting my facts right, I've been studying foxes for years now and know a h*ll of a lot more about them than you'll ever know! Another thing, if people secured their chickens etc. properly this wouldn't happen. I've a friend whos got chickens and ducks and she's got fox proof wire and has never had any problems the fox just sits there and watches them!
