Had I been the first to answer, I would probably have said something along the lines of you should not get a dog because it looks cute, you should get one that fits in with your lifestyle and one you have found out all about, but as others have said this I didn't bother. Thing is, we often get people on here who want a dog because they have seen one on an advert, in a film or out in the street, and haven't bothered to find out what they are really like to live with. There are dozens of Siberian Husky types in rescue because of the film Snow Dogs and Dalmatian rescue is inundated with them because of the 101 films, same with Border Collies people see them doing obedience, agility, heelwork to music or sheep work and think they come ready trained like that. I am sure you are sensible enough to find out about the breed, but others may not, and none of us want to see any more dogs in rescue because people have not given it enough thought. Have to admit I watched the programme about Police Dogs last night, and when they showed the GSD bitch with her puppies my exact words were 'Aww, I want one'!
