guinea pigs back on the mend

hiya i posted a few days back with a very ill guinea pig query he has since recovered a hell of a lot and also has his appetite back which is great obviously but he is still a little on the skinny side what should be the average weight for a mature adult male? and what can i give him to fatten him up??? thanks x

Hi babybop, sorry nobody has given you an answer to your question , so here goes..Their weight should be between 1.5 and 2.5 pounds .Make sure your little pal has vitamin C, you can buy this from pet stores and you put it in the drinking water.As regards the food, just plenty of what he likes,they adore chickweed and dandelions,if he is content he will soon build his weight up again.Hope all goes well for him.Good luck.g.

thanks garner for your answer we did get his weight up by a good 200 grams by giving him dandelions and chickweed and he loved his tomatoes and he started to fill out but sadley the day before yesterday he took a turn for the worse and this time we couldnt tempt him with anything and he sadly died yesterday very upsetting but im glad he is not suffering and i feeel proud knowing that i did the best for our little man thanks again garner x
I am so sorry babybop, you did your best for him, that is the main thing,I have two and they are getting on in years for g/pigs and I know I will have to face the same sadness some day but I know that they are very well looked after and loved and that's what counts.Sorry for your loss.g.
