Allergy sticky ears in dog

Hi there. My two year old Weimaraner GSP cross boy has being diagnosed will allergy problems. The main symptom is inflamed ears which then become dirty and sticky. We are working with the vet who is excellent but the steroid tablets which helped at first have stopped being effective at a dose which is acceptable in terms of side effects for the dog. The next stage is to try a topical steroid spray which we will start on monday. We have cleaned up his diet which has helped a lot but not solved the problem. We have also tried
Canaural drops (the thick yellow ones)
Thornit powder
We currently use ear cleaning solution made from boracic and lactic acid to clean his ears (at vets suggestion) plus the steroid tabs and evening primrose oil capsules, again at vet's suggestion.
has anyone else had experience of this and can you make any suggestions please?
He has bare, not hairy ear canals and is as good as gold about the twice daily cleaning and treatment.

I think this is all about me and the Blue dress 'bugger off Shaney' thread which I explained to her was a joke. (of course it was a joke). I have been ignored since and on a few occasions on the Biddie thread tried to engage in conversation with Shaney, but have been totally ignored by her. As for 'ears burning' I have no idea whatsoever.

But now feel very awkward so will keep away. I absolutely hate bad atmospheres.

and also my ears have been burning "left for love, right for spite" and I'm not surprised the things I'v been up too, but no one I am sure (mr N's favourite saying) has been saying things behind anyone elses back.

There is nothing to make up Nettie. I haven't done anything wrong, haven't ignored anybody and certainly haven't been talking about Shaney behind her back. I don't understand what is going on really. I might be wrong in my assumptions it is about me. Lots of times I post and nobody comments but that doesn't matter - I am the worse one at not commenting on other people's posts!!

Ok so now I am a diva. Thanks. I never turned anything round to make you look guilty. It was a joke about the Blue dress, as I explained. And talking about digging a trench when someone says 'The Germans are Coming' was also a joke. It sounded like a line from a film.

Well I've just come on to tell you about my lovely lunch and what a shame to read what I just have. Shaney and Lottie Please don't go. When we're angry we may say things we regret so I hope you can sort this out in a friendly way like we all have been for so many years. Like Neti I don't want our friendship on here to end as you have all helped me in different ways.


Right Neti you are a lovely looking lady and a generous one too. Nothing like you say you look at all!!! So your depression will I hope come to an end very soon. Please don't think I don't know about depression because I do so just keep talking to us privately or on here it doesn't matter and if you really can't cope go to your Dr. Or even a close friend may be able to help you just by listening. Thank you for your comments about the London Photos and Steady. Also everyone else for your comments about Steady.
Jno thanks for the Link but Steady can't read music, and he wouldn't even let me help him to learn to play, he is totally self taught and plays by ear.
It was interesting to me though.


I think I'm off to go and make a cuppa now and think about tea. I had two lively smoked Haddock and Mozzerella fish cakes for my lunch with Salad and a few chips (didn't eat them all) so am now a bit peckish again.
