My cat keeps killing!

I have a one year old cat- we live in the countryside.
Only thing is she is killing one sometimes two animals a day (mouse,shrews,birds,voles)
It's getting ridiculous and yesterday I had to watch a bird die that she brought in (it died after few mins)

I just dont know what to do to stop her- She has a bell on her collar and I have punished her by giving her a little tap on bottom but nothing stops her.
Anyone got any advise except for moving away or locking her in??!!

I think it's sad too, that the wildlife has lost its life and doesn't even get eaten. Don't know if there's a way to stop a cat though.

I keep my dogs on a leads when in public so's not to interfere with others jollies. Cat owners can clap or shoo birds when their cats prowling; it's not on that cats just raid nests for sport.

You can't stop her jenni, it's nature, and she's providing for you!
Please though - take off the collar. She's little and adventurous, runs a huge risk of getting it snagged on a branch and throttling herself. I got rid of all my collars when Rover nearly hung himself on a window handle. They don't need collars for flea treatment, they don't need collars at all - please take it off. (I also can't imagine anything worse than having a bell round my neck, the noise would drive me barmy and it makes no difference to the birds!)

jaydah they aren't doing it for sport as you see it - they are doing it to hone their survival skills lest the tin opener gets lost and they are without a food source.

carmalee - I dont keep cats because I prefer wild birds who I encourage by a bird table. Cat owners know the traits and imo can control their cats.

They are ok .......sally tries to have a chew-or a nuzzle-on caspar...caspar gives her a swipe....lol. They are not sleeping together ...yet

jaydah.....in my opinion-you do not understand cats....next you will be saying that if we cannot watch-and control-every move our cat makes....then we should not have them in the first place.

you said that pasta ! I've kept cats but choose not to at present. My cat was out with me when I was out - the sight of me frightened off most wildlife - lol, and also left less for the cat to kill.

then Jaydah, and with respect, you need to get out a bit more - it is as intrinsic to the cat family to kill as it is to the birds and rodents to fear them - that's what keeps prey species alive and their hunters. -I respect your choice to feed birds (as I do) but you can't (and shouldn't) expect that just because you do this, all cats in the area are on board.
