One of our kittens has loose stools.... (He's 6 months old now so more of a young cat rather than little kitten).
He loves his food - but stays away from dry biscuits and eats the wet food.
Apparently when teething it can give them upset tummies... and I managed to get some biscuits down him by mixing them with water to soften them up a bit - as I thought maybe the wet food was lacking some fibre.
Also got a tube or probiotics from vets to help replace the good bacteria.
All seemed to settle down - then after his neutering.. the anaesthetic must have upset the balance as it is back.
He is on the probiotics again (tube no 2 at £15 a pop!!!) and am going to withdraw wet food other than plain chicken.
How long should I keep this up before I should be worried if there is no change?
With 2 cats using litter trays its tricky to know which stools are his!!! Unless I happen to watch him go!

I would leave it a couple more days, then give the vet a ring if you are still worried. Make sure he has plenty to drink so he's not dehydrating.
If he's happy in himself, and his eyes are bright, and he's playing, hopefully he'll settle down.

to add to this - his wet food diet...
He is on the expensive stuff... that is made from real chicken and real tuna... not the whiskas stuff as the vet told me thats rubbish! He eats well as he loves it!
Biscuits obviously are a bit too crunchy for him. But I need to wean him onto them more as they are good for cleaning their teeth.
Could the chicken and tuna diet be lacking in fibre that makes him have runny Sugar?

thanks boxtops... any sign of your little missing one yet?
Hi Nosha - no, still missing but we spent time yesterday chasing up on some sightings - could well be him. We keep looking.

Re the biscuits - your little fellow should still be on kitten biscuits, IMO?

Some hopefully positive news Boxtops.. WIll keep my fingers crossed for you!
The kitten food - kitten biscuit would be ideal.. but we have 3 cats.. and trying to feed them all in different places and ensure they dont eat each others food is near on impossible.
I picked up some new biscuits from the vets last week which are more kitten based ones so will try him on them alone for a few days and Harvey Pickles (the old cat) will just have to eat them too!!!
