cats brought in baby sparrow.. put it safely outside on bird table. been there hours. no sign of parents but its still alive. anything we can do?

I am afraid that nature is harsh. It could be that the bird is fledged in which case the parents would ignore it anyway. Short of making it a pet and feeding it mealworms there is not much you can do.

depends whether or not it's a fledgling or one your cat got out of a nest - if it's the former the parents should be around and will take care of it for a day or two - if it's the latter, it will have few feathers and be unable to grip onto your finger very well, in which case try and find the nest and return it there. If all else fails, millions of birds have been raised with a pair of tweezers and some meelworms! If you go down this route google in something like 'raising an orphan bird'

If it's on the bird table then a crow will probably eat it I should think. It has no cover. I would google your local wildlife centre and take it to them and they will take care of it. And please put a massive bell on your cat to at least give the fledglings a chance.
