whats the point of them? what do they do? they just slither around and eat the plants.... do they do anything useful in return? Ive just been outside after it peed it down and there was dozens of em.... but more importantly, why can they sleep for years on end and we can't?

ooo hornets feed the grubs of garden pests to their brood...shame they aren't big enough to catch chavs.

yeah thats why i dont hurt them boxy... they may eat the plants but its like Jursassic Park out there sometimes so i wont begrudge em that..... and theres tons of birds come in the garden to feast on them :)

tried my first plate of snails yesterday in aragon spain, still undecided if i like em, as they seemed a lot of hard work to prize from their shells and a little salty to say the least.

Nice one Safiya. I didn't want to suggest that I have something of a useful purpose on AB. It's a great site and I apologise for my occasional silly answers and acknowledge that I am often beaten to a possible sensible reply, because I type at a snails pace.☺☺☺

Safiya.......I'm now off to cook an evening meal for Viv and me. No it's will not include Escargot....It is to be Pork Chops served with Roast pots, Sliced green beans, Carrots and Gravy......Not any ordinary Gravy...Mushroom Sherry Sauce.....Don't tell anyone....I open a tin of Condensed Mushroom Soup, add a glass of Sherry and just heat through ......Friends all enjoy it and want the recipe.

I havent had a pork chop for years ron and sometimes i really fancy one..... lol at your secret recipe.... a few of my mates use condensed mushroom or chicken soup for all sorts of things, totally gorgeous.... you and viv enjoy and have a good night :)
