I would think the dog you are describing might be a Chow-Chow. These are dogs that need an awful lot of grooming to keep their coats clear from matting.
Please think about getting a dog that suites your lifestyle, not just the look you want. So many people go for a certain "look" and then end up with dogs they cannot care for appropriately. It is so easy to fall in love with a puppy and then find that once the dog is fully grown, it is too much work or too hard to handle. Taking on a dog is a big responsibility, but if you chose the right breed and can give the time and dedication the dog needs, you can end up with a best friend and companion and lots of wonderful experiences along the way. Just study the different breeds before making your choice. :o)
