guess that dog breed!

i was talking to my boyfriend the past couple of weeks about possibly getting a dog in a few years. he said there is a dog breed that looks like a red panda. but i cant remember the name! does anyone know which one im talking about?

If it is an Akita, then I would seriously find out a lot about the breed before you consider taking one on. They are definitely not a pet for first time owners or inexperienced people.

I know it's very easy to fall in love with a cuddly pup but the wisest decision if you are going to get a dog is to choose it for it's suitability to your life style and not because it looks cute.

I would think the dog you are describing might be a Chow-Chow. These are dogs that need an awful lot of grooming to keep their coats clear from matting.
Please think about getting a dog that suites your lifestyle, not just the look you want. So many people go for a certain "look" and then end up with dogs they cannot care for appropriately. It is so easy to fall in love with a puppy and then find that once the dog is fully grown, it is too much work or too hard to handle. Taking on a dog is a big responsibility, but if you chose the right breed and can give the time and dedication the dog needs, you can end up with a best friend and companion and lots of wonderful experiences along the way. Just study the different breeds before making your choice. :o)

Well said carmalee I agree with that. Also I would add, usually cross breds are more hardy from what I know about them, I must admit that I don't like people buying "designer dogs" so to speak, just to have something someone else hasn't got.

the main qdvantage of buying a specific breed is you know from the start how big it will be, what the likely lifespan, health issues and temperment problems are likely to be. if I was in a position to have a dog I'd want a springer spaniel main problem they don't grow up until they are about 8 years old up til then you might as well have a very intelligent hyperactive toddler in the house

probably a chow they usually are redish brown with blue/purple tongues. if not them look at an akita or if they werent built so much look at an irish setter or redish golden retriever. either way whatever dog you get do alot of research. because if its the chow or akita without proper socialing and training they can turn aggressive towards your visitors. if its a setter you better be very active they love to run an hunt. if its a golden well they usual fit all family lifes :) hope that helped
