3 Dogs Killed Today - Poison Alert
92 Answers
The Alnmouth to Warkworth beaches in Northumberland have been laced with poison and 3 dogs have died today. The police are involved and have "locked down" the beach to dog walkers.
Stay away if you're in the area. There are some sick people out there.

Hello - I checked the police site last night and this morning and no mention so I rang and spoke to an officer. He said the investigation took place with officers and the helicopter because a member of the public had telephoned to say 3 dogs had died and the vet had said it was poisoning. They found nothing, believed that the three dogs had recovered, and it will not be in the press. I told him that local people were worried and want to know what has happened, plus Farcebook is full of different rumours - he said the beach is safe, no dogs have died, everyone should be careful because farmers and gamekeepers do use poisons under controlled circumstances - and the only thing to be alert to is a carcass which may be poisoned to kill foxes. I would like to know the facts before I go back - I have been told that the new Vicar in Warkworth lost her dog, it was too late, and the puppy owned by the Tower B+B is severely ill still.
It was the dukes game keepers that laid the poison which is why it is been hushed up. I live in the village and the duke instructed them too put down the poison too kill rats and foxes. Three local dogs have died and lots of others have been effected and are very ill. Apparently the duke is now saying that dog walkers should not be on his land so obviously he will get away with it
I remember a while ago we had a number of horses being attacked in fields in this area of Bucks. Some had their ears cropped, eyes gouged and private parts mutilated. The paper seemed to blame 'children' (why they settled on that I'm not sure) or someone who had a grudge against horses! I did wonder how anyone - 'children' included - could get close enough to do that to horses. Wouldn't the horses react and attack them? I can't remember they were ever apprehended.
Anyway, there are some very sick and twisted people about. The worrying thing is that they will probably be the people next door who everyone says are so nice and friendly.

I can understand people hating dogs (and cats - infuriating animals that they are) but what is to be gained by killing them?
Are there really so many cruel and twisted people in the world. As Andyvon has said - it won't be people who look deranged and loopy. It is the normal looking psychos that do stuff like this.

If this poisoning has occurred it won't be Strychnine! There is very little chance that anyone but a scientist would be able to get hold of the stuff, even then it would require lots of papers to be signed and reasons given.
A very high percentage of deliberate animal poisonings are done with anti-freeze as it does not have a bitter taste or smell.

So sorry thought we lived in a society of free speech. Just passing on as an animal owner what we have been told. It was the police who said what the poison was and I believe the person responsible should be named and shamed whoever he is. No I can't prove it but I'm not one too sit on the fence and do nothing.
