Does anyone donate to WSPA?

Just seen a horrible horrible advert on bear baiting :0( ive bever heard or seen that...wish i hadnt

Yes, I donate to WSPA. They have been very successful in eliminating many instances of bear baiting around the world and have sanctuaries for the rescued bears. A very worthwhile animal charity.

I donate to them occasionally too. Bear baiting is horrendous and the people doing it need money to live - WSPA and other orgs often help them to retrain in exchange for the bear's life.

At the moment, WSPA are asking for donations to build new enclosures for rescued Romanian bears who were locked in tiny cages, some being forced to dance on the streets. I do not have much, and so couldn't afford the £20 they wanted, but I managed a tenner and felt better for it!
By the way, hello tinks! Haven't got on here in the afternoon in a long time!

I used to feel that I had to donate to every charity that pulled at my heartstrings. These days I have chosen one to give to on a monthly basis and another where I volunteer some time each week - working in their shop.

I don't feel guilty about the other charities - there are so many of them - but there is a limit as to how far my money will stretch.

Horrendous tinkerbell. Also the bears in Vietnam and other countries that are kept in tiny cages inside sheds and agonisingly milked for their bile several times a day with no escape from their fate. They have open infected wounds and no vet treatment. I read recently that some of them are refusing to eat and starving themselves to death to escape their life of pain and misery. There is a wonderful woman who is rescuing some of them but can't remember her name. It is truly depressing. i have given to her charity as well. If only I could win the lottery.

No, I donate to organisations like Unicef, Save The Children, SOS Children's Villages, etc. because I am appalled at over 5,000 children dying every day from malnutrition etc.

It's a dreadful trade, but we can't all donate to everything. I can only hope that those who can donate actually manage to get something done - there are dancing bears released from Turkey regularly now, I believe.

As said, there are so many charities worthwhile of your donation but you can give to them all.

Another good way to help animals is to take on an active attitude to the organisations that strive to protect the natural habitat of animals, and I am not just talking about greenpeace. Politicians can be powerful allies in conservation, alas.... there are very few that really care.

I don't donate to human charities but I might if it was to buy contraceptives to stop people breeding if they live in deprived countries. Ever since I was a small child there have been appeals for starving children - think it was Biafra when I was little, but still they keep breeding - what mother would allow herself to breed if she couldn't even feed herself? I know I will get a barrage of complaints about this but I don't care - its my opinion!

I agree Lankeela, I also accept that it is part of their culture, they need to change their culture, unfortunately these days its apart of their culture to watch their off springs starve to death.

and the Catholic church telling them that wearing a condom is a sin and can cause aids doesnt help!!

I donate £100 a year to RNLI and the Poppy Appeal (each) that's it!!

Don't support medical research be it Cancer, MS, or any of the others as they are still involved in testing on animals
For me RSPB, Cats Protection, Cramar Cat Rescue, and the Poppy appeal although I usually chuck a couple of quid in the Salvation army tins at Christmas Disaster time Medicin Sans frontieres
