Generally if I find a spider in the house I leave it there as they always tend to stay in the same place and only come out during the day. I feal this helps against other pests such as silver fish and woodlice etc. Is there any harm in having too many spiders in your house? I have named a couple of them that have been here since they were 'born'. They are now quite big. But there is no health problems or dangers from these spiders are there?

Well thats a relief. The ones in mine are pitch black matt colored. Can they still bite you though?
no, not in the UK
Read the article I posted woofgang.
All spiders can bite, but very few have fangs big enough to be even felt my a human, much less hurt.

Thos that can inflict damage do so by their venom which in certain species can cause paralysis and even death.

I also leave spiders alone. i understand that the notion that they come in from the garden and should be returned there, is untrue. House spiders are a different species, and will not survive outside, so should be left alone to travel through the house clearing insects as they go.
ladybirder, and they are in Devon!!!!! I live in Devon and im an Ex Pest Controller, first ive heard of them!!

I hate spiders!!!
Whilst e detest spiders I would rescue them and never harm them.
I had a chilli Rose tarantular as a pet for over 14 years, she bit me when I first got her and it was just like a bee sting. I am the one who is called upon to remove spiders from the bath etc.
The False Widow, mentioned in the article I posted, can kill a human traci66 and it's in this country and lives near RATTER:-(
They love dusty places

Description:
There are several spiders in the UK that can cause painful bites, be careful of any that are black and shiny with red spots on their back. Otherwise no problems with them, apart from the above mentioned widow spiders.
If they are not the HUGE double jointed monsters which I capture and put out...I just leave them to eat the flies !!
I am terrified of the blighters and have to squish them if in the house
Mrs O ...I have spider catcher from Lakeland..a long tube that sooks up!!! I do not have to actually come into contact with the wee blighters...or big blighters come to think of it !!! think it cost around a tenner..
A rolled up newspaper or hubby's slipper does the trick for me
Mrs O ...you may come back as a spider !!!!!
I drop big books on them
As long as they are not FunnelWeb or Black Widow.......bit dodgy those ! :-)
I never kill spiders, they absolutely terrify me, but I'd never kill them. They only do good.
