Today my neighbour noticed a swarm of bees around one of my conifer trees.  Further investigation shows a large 'nest' hanging from one of the high branches.  I like bees but really don't think its a suitable place for them.  I don't know what this 'nest' thing is called, but when they stopped swarming they all flew back to it.  It's really high in the tree, out of reach,  and I would like some advice please about what to do.

Thanks Woofgang, will do that tomorrow.  The problem is, although it's in our garden it is about 60 yds from our house but really near to my neighbour's bungalow.  Not very nice for them!
we spent some time in USA and rented out our house. came back to find 14(!) wasp nests in the attic!!! Much as I like bees, I have loads of sympathy with your neighbour!!

My neighbour phoned his beekeeper friend.  He says that sometimes they go as quickly as they arrive.    Apparently if they are still there on Friday then they will have decided to stay a while, and he will then come for them and take them back to his hives.

We have several wasp nests in the attick of our old house.  We smoked them out!

Bees took off last night!  No further action required. x

I'm not surprised that you've attracted bees FP with all your scented flowers!  I don't have any honesuckle open yet, it has to be my favourite fragrance. Glad they've moved on anyway, I had a wasp nest & sadly had to have it destroyed as it was very low down & my dog had found it.

Wonder where Cetti is?  I hope she's ok. Been lots of birdy/wildlife q's but she hasn't been around.

Hi Robinia.  Perhaps Cetti is on holiday somewhere nice!  I've been really lazy today - too hot for the garden!
