Territorial cat attacking dogs
78 Answers
Now stop laughing, this is no longer funny.
For the third time this week I have had a complaint that my cat has attacked someone's dog. We get a lot of dog walkers round here. Last night apparently he chased an alsation.
What on earth can I do? For his safety and the dogs? I can't keep him in - he is used to freedom. He is 19 and always been a bit feisty (ie if a dog comes near his garden he will take it on), but now he is actively looking for trouble.

What about a microchip controlled cat flap - the others can get out but he can't go anywhere.
If he was a younger cat at least you would have the knowledge that he could outrun a dog but he is a pensioner and won't move quite so fast.
My last dog (half german shepherd and half lab/vacuum cleaner) was a cat chaser until he picked on the wrong cat. He ended up cowering behind me with the cat trying to kill him. I would never have considered going in search of the cat's slave to complain.

lol no! Monday he might like our room, Tuesday he might like the dining room; Wednesday could be the first floor spare room, although it might be the study; Thursday he might like our room but it depends on whether there is a "Y" in the day............. They are all the chuffing same. It's like when you finally find a cat food that ALL of them like. They like it for one sitting and then look at you as if to say "Just cos I liked Sainsburys Meat in Gravy this morning, doesn't mean I am going to like it tonight......"
Can you not sue the b******* that did this to a poor cat. Get a CCTV system set up. Look at all the negative press the wheelie bin lady got - and I have often considered doing that to my own cats.
pasta - There are lots of numpties out there in the big bad world who shouldn't get to care for non-humans nor be allowed to breed.
Is Arnie a ginger cat?

The cat flap would just work off their microchip so there would be no need for a collar.

We've got a CCTV system Wolf! Unfortunately, by the time we received the information that indicated it could have been a revenge attack we had over written any footage that might have been useful. I'm now downloading it onto another drive.
And yes, Arnie is a ginger cat. He's medium sized, has only one tooth, is slightly do-lally but he's sweet (unless you are a dog), good natured, cuddly but quite single minded. And at 19, he gets slightly more latitude than the other fur babies.

Well BM it sounds like he is an amazing character!!! A very spirited old boy!!!! Shame some bastard human decides to hurt an animal that was just defending territory! See if you can find out where the guy lives and shame him or post a notice on your gate stating you know about this man!!!!! Appreciate if his dog was hurt he would be annoyed but to then come back days later and hurt the cat is appalling!!!!
