crows in america

i have heard that you cant film crows in america. does anyone know why this is? i was also told that any crows that are seen in films and on tv programmes (like 6 feet under) are all made by jim hensons creature workshop.

My suspicion is that by 'crows' you may mean a Native American tribe living in southern Montana.  While we know them as Crow Indians, their name for themselves is Absaroka, which translates to crow, black bird or some near equivalent.  There are no laws against filming the birds, however, for a number of years the Crow tribe, which occupies a reservation encompassing the site of the famous Custer Battlefield, has re-enacted that battle each spring on its anniversary.  Commercial filming of the event is by license only and many of the tribesmen probably want to be reimbursed for filming of themselves and their elaborate and expensive native regalia.

Numerous documentaries of the crows that are birds are available and often shown on nature type TV...

Actually, the crow in Six Feet Under is a magpie crow and has a white breast. They had to digitally go in and color it all black. I still haven't found the answer as to why it illegal to film black crows (the bird, not a tribe).
