How Cats and Dogs Play
4 Answers
Caspar and Sally like to have their rough and tumbles when I'm in the shower...and can't stop them murdering each other. ;-0
Consequently I can hear them thundering up and down the stairs and from one end of the hallway to the other. Sometimes I can hear the dog yelp if Caspar has a swipe at her.
Tonight I heard a few doggie shrieks...then crying. I opened the door and called...she came flying up the stairs with Caspar in hot pursuit. Caspar then wrapped his forelegs around her head, and tried to bite her while up on his hind legs. Then...horror...I saw that his claws on one paw had gotten caught in Sally's fur-and he was stretching the skin as he was trying to pull himself out! All through this,Sally showed amazing patience and tolerance...and I was glad to see no blood was shed.

It was clear the dog wasn't used to living with a cat, she was very inquisitive and would go for cats when out on walks. But after finding out what happens when you corner a cat she seemed to stop that carry-on fairly quickly. I wouldn't be confident enough to leave the pair of them unattended in the same room but while I'm there with them they seem to behave.
Left alone I'd be afraid she might corner the cat and lose an eye. After all, dogs can be stupid and fail to learn. How can it be that such an intelligent creature be such a lug at times?
