I thought foxhunting was banned

If fox hunting has been banned and all hunts say they are hunting within the law, how come this happened two Saturdays ago, a lady had to intervene.
Why are the hunts never prosecuted? Are they areally above the law? Is it that corrupt?

The trouble is, although it is OFFICIALLY banned, there are still ways around the ban. Also, fox hunting has friends in high places e.g. Royalty, MPs, the aristocracy...all our SO CALLED betters. It is cruelty in the extreme and I'm glad I'm a lowly pleb, mornin' guv (tug my forelock!). We have loads of urban foxes around my area and apart from the eerie noises they sometimes make through the night, they're no problem.
I've always been anti-hunting but I think it's important not to use the 'rich people's sport' in an argument. People from all walks of life and economic situations support and follow the hunt, it's really not that expensive to hire a horse. Implying it's just for toffs makes it into a political argument rather than one of animal rights and anti-cruelty that it should be.
Fox hunting is banned, but Tony Blair left loopholes in the law which these bloodthirsty idiots exploit to the full. And yes, they do think they are above the law. The League Against Cruel Sports is working flat out to bring prosecutions, but they are finding it very difficult. I was a 'sabber' in my early 20's and often went to hunts to help disrupt them. The annoying thing is the police were always out in force to try and stop us, but where are they now when these twonks are breaking the law ?????
It isn't illegal if the hounds go off on a laid trail and then pick up the scent of a live fox - it is natural for the hounds to go after it, that is if the scent is greater than the laid one. And that is how the law is circumvented, hunt masters very careful to stress at the beginning of the meet that a number of trails have been laid/or are being laid.
