I'd hope that the Mirror printed topless women on page three and start reading that instead!

All Life would end very quickly, without the sun the temperature of the solar system would drop to almost 0 Kelvin. I can't think of anything that could survive that.

Oh Gawd Mr cheese- it took me ages to get that.........lol

I know, i could hear the cogs working from here.  I wonder how many Amaricans are wondering what the hell i ment?

Ooooo i'm not touching on that touchy topic...but thankyou for making me laff on what is turning out to be a truly crappy day    xxxx
If the sun disappeared we'd all be like you marylyn. Leftcompletely in the dark.

Depends what you mean by 'disappeared', but if you mean it went 'ping' and was no longer there (rather than 'went out'), then the Earth and all the other planets, asteroids etc. would all fly off into space in different directions, (well, actually at a tangent to their respective positions in their orbits) as there would no longer be the sun's gravity to keep them in there orbits.

It's a bit like spinning a weight on a string round your head and letting go of the string - the weight will go flying off away from the centre (your hand)

The whole planet would totally freeze over and and everything on it would die. It would be at the mercy of the gravity of the other planets and simply drift randomly around the universe for billions of years until it was caught up in another stronger field of gravity and be destroyed, unoless its a "friendly sun" and revives the Earth in which case life might begin to evolve again.
