You are clearly not an animal person and I don't think you'll be happy with whatever you end up with. Any living thing that produces waste will smell to some degree even if it is impeccably cared for. You seem to want an animal that will fit in with your pristine, fresh smelling idea of a home and will practically look after itself, I really don't think such a thing exists. I think the rock idea is the best or maybe a fossil as at least that used to be an animal.

Rattyratgirl, I love animals, but don't want something that will wreck my home. I really don't think there's anything wrong with that. I have a nice house and nice furniture, and I don't want it stinking of animals.
I have a budgie, he doesn't smell at all. I clean him out every single day, and would be prepared to do that with any other animal, as long as it didn't take a huge amount of time as I have to work. I have grown up with animals. We had fish, dogs, cats, chickens and ducks. My parents had a huge house to accommodate them all though, and I do not. It's not a case of not being an animal lover, it's a case of being realistic and practical.

The globe shrimp are sea monkeys or rather ostracods (Brine shrimp)

My two loved them Madmen and now you can get all sorts of bits and bobs to accompany them....magic trees, projector sets to see them on the walls etc.
